Gaiters Senior Day Spoiled By No. 3 Carabins
TheNo.3 ranked Montreal Carabins took control of Saturday’s RSEQ University Football match-up early and did not look back. They spoiled the Bishop’s Gaiters senior day by a final score of 52-3 in Lennoxville.
kicker Louis-Philippe Simoneau missed a field goal on the Carabins opening drive but they responded with four consecutive touchdowns to grab control of the game. While the Carabins rolled, the Gaiters struggled. Three of Montreal’s first four major scores came thanks to miscues by the Gaiters, two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and a fumble.
the momentum clearly on their side Montreal grabbed a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, only to score less than a minute into the second frame before extending their advantage to 35-0 at halftime.
booted through a 39-yard field goal and Bishop’s conceded a safety before finally the Gaiters got on the board. Vincent Dube (Montmagny, Que.) kicked a 26-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in the third frame. It was the lone score for the Gaiters who were also held off the scoresheet a week ago at Concordia.
