Stanstead Township - Hot meeting expected tonight

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

Stanstead Township’s usual quaint meeting should be a different thing tonight as le Journal de Montreal and number one French broadcaster TVA have had the municipality ‘in their sights’ over the last few days. At issue is the never ending construction site of a multi-millionaire (this newspaper’s libel insurance is not enough to cover a law suit by this person so he will remain unnamed) that the newspaper and the news station have investigated. The town is refusing to turn over, as is the law, the construction permit in whole and the mayor is saying that the redacted version was done on order of the town’s lawyer. Asked by a reporter who they were, she refused to answer. For years, the town’s lawyers have been Monty Coulombe, now Monty Sylvestre, as numerous references on the municipality attest.

The meeting starts tonight at 7:00.
