There­was a good lo­cal crowd for the Stanstead Col­lege var­sity hockey games, last week­end, at the Pat Burns Arena. The Spar­tan boys played on Satur­day, beat­ing Academie St-Louis 6 to 3, while the Spar­tan girls tied up their game on Sun­day, 1 to 1, against On­tario Hockey Academy. The reg­u­lar sea­son be­gins this week­end, at the Pat Burns Arena, for the var­sity boys with games on Satur­day, 4:00 pm, and Sun­day at 11:00 am, both against Up­per Canada Col­lege. The var­sity girls will be on the road on Satur­day, play­ing the North Amer­i­can Hockey Academy (NAHA) in Stowe at 6:00 pm, re­turn­ing home for a re­match against NAHA on Sun­day, 2:00 pm, at the PBA.

Stanstead Col­lege’s hockey pro­gram got some good cov­er­age over the week­end when the Rogers Home­town Hockey Tour came to Sher­brooke. Sarah Vail­lan­court, a former mem­ber of the women’s na­tional hockey team and the coach of Stanstead Col­lege’s girls var­sity team was in­ter­viewed and a player on the var­sity boys team got to pick the sec­ond star of the Montreal Cana­di­ens/Win­nepeg Jets game. a Stanstead Col­lege hockey player, Hannah
