Both the Stanstead College varsity boys and girls squads are coming off strong weekends in their respective league play. The boys travelled to Burlington, Vermont, for the MPHL kick-off. Over the course of the weekend the team played five games and finished with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss. The weekend opened with 5-1 wins over both St. Francis (Buffalo, New York) and Loyola Academy (Chicago, Illinois). On Saturday the winning ways continued as the Spartans beat both Gilmour Academy (Gates Mills, Ohio) and Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), both games ending with a score of 3-1. On Sunday morning in the fifth and final game the Spartans lost 3-1 to Lake Forest Academy (Lake Forest, Illinois).
The Stanstead Girls enjoyed a perfect weekend in NAPHA action at the Pat Burns Arena, winning all 4 games, by scores of 6-0 over King’s Edgehill School, 5-1 over Rothesay Netherwood School, 7-0 over Northwood School and 6-0 over Rice Memorial. It was an outstanding weekend of girls hockey, with numerous scouts in attendance; notably from Hockey Canada, McGill and Carleton University, as well as Dartmouth, Cornell, Merrimack, Providence, Norwich and Middlebury colleges. Many thanks to all community members for coming out to watch the games.
The public is encouraged to come out and see some great hockey action this weekend at the Pat Burns Arena. Also, note that our Prep Boys team will be participating in the annual Alexander Galt Tournament on November 20-21. Saturday will be our Parent’s Day at the college and we look forward to a big crowd to cheer on our teams. Spartan Jeanne Chouinard takes
