Christ­mas Carols In Ge­orgeville

The 36th Fes­ti­val of Nine Lessons with Carols will be held in St. Ge­orge's Angli­can Church, Ge­orgeville, on Sun­day De­cem­ber 13th at 4 p.m. Ge­orgeville’s choirs, the Oc­ca­sional Choir (adults) and the St. Ge­orge's Cho­ris­ters (aged 6 to 11), will be di­rected by Sarah Hoblyn and Gail Kilkelly with Maryse Si­mard ac­com­pa­ny­ing.

The nine lessons, taken from the Bible, tell the Christ­mas story and will be read by peo­ple rep­re­sent­ing var­i­ous as­pects of life in the vil­lage. Some of the carols will be sung by the choirs alone and oth­ers with the con­gre­ga­tion. Hear Ge­orgeville’s unique ren­der­ing of The First Noel dur­ing which the chil­dren will present their pageant on the Na­tiv­ity story.

The Fes­ti­val of Nine Lessons with Carols was first held in 1880 in Truro Cathe­dral in Corn­wall, Eng­land, and since then is held an­nu­ally in nu­mer­ous churches through­out the world.
