Goodrich Li­brary re-opens af­ter smoke dam­age

The Goodrich Me­mo­rial Li­brary par­tially re-opened on Mon­day, Jan­uary 18th, af­ter be­ing closed for sev­eral weeks. On De­cem­ber 30th, the his­toric build­ing’s fur­nace broke, caus­ing dirty smoke to fill the whole build­ing. A sooty film was left on all sur­faces, in­clud­ing on the books.

The li­brary will have reg­u­lar op­er­at­ing hours for the se­cond floor only and peo­ple can take out books again. Com­put­ers will be up and run­ning. The third floor is still not in use so no ac­cess to the Ver­mont room, As­sem­bly room or small read­ing room.
