Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

On January 21st, the agricultural forum of the Val-Saint-Francois MRC was held at the Valcourt golf club and attended by more than seventy-five people. Agricultural producers, elected municipal officials, a MAPAQ Estrie representative, and intervenors worked together to find action plans to develop the agriculture industry on the territory. Themes such as the next generation, manpower, agro-tourism, food transformation and marketing were discussed. Mini-conferences were presented by Francis Bisaillon (beginning farmer), Dominic Pearson (Bull’s Head), and Marie-Chantale Houde (Fromagerie Nouvelle-France).

“It was an interesting day, full of inspiring ideas. The MRC and the community will work hard, together, in the coming years. The concerns of the agricultural community have been heard,” commented Luc Cayer, mayor of Stoke and the prefect of the Val-Saint-Francois MRC.

The PDZA (Plan de developpement de la zone agricole) of the Val-Saint-Francois MRC is supported by the Quebec Ministry of agriculture.
