Stanstead Journal - - FROM PAGE ONE - Details about Townshippers’ Day will be posted to the official website www. TDay.ca as they become available.

Building on last year's success, Townshippers’ Association is pleased to announce that the annual Townshippers’ Day is returning to the Brome fairgrounds on September 17, 2016. Taking place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., this year’s festival is hosted by the Town of Brome Lake, with the assistance of Brome Village and West Bolton. Now in its 37th year, Townshippers’ Day, affectionately dubbed T-Day, is a cultural festival celebrating the creativity, heritage, and vitality of the English-speaking community of the historical Eastern Townships. Once again the non-profit, bilingual, family festival will feature live entertainment, a market of local artisans and exhibitors as well as activities for all ages. Traditionally Townshippers’ Day is a nomadic festival hosted each year by a different community, with the help of a volunteer organizing committee. Having the same host and venue for two years in a row is unprecedented in the festival’s history. The 2015 edition was such a huge success at helping to promote Brome and the Townships to more than 4,000 visitors from the English-speaking and Frenchspeaking communities across the region, that the members of last year’s organizing committee were eager to volunteer to work together again on the 2016 event. “We had such a great time organizing last year’s event,” explained returning Organizing Committee Co-Chair Barrie Paige. “We have a great organizing committee who are committed to doing the best we can to make this event successful. The fairgrounds are also a great location to host the event and, most of all, to bring people together and display our beautiful region.” Organizers anticipate even bigger crowds this year since visitors will be able to enjoy Townshippers’ Day alongside the annual Duck Festival weekend in Knowlton. “We are dedicated to creating a fun day for the young and not-so-young visitors, with many booths to visit and a variety of food vendors,” added Organizing Committee member Nancy Page. “We have had favorable comments about the location, the events, the musicians, the food, the kiosks, and more. The museum in Knowlton will also have activities for children and a museum visit for all. Additions of a petting zoo and special surprises will be revealed as we approach T-Day.”
