Austin Women’s In­sti­tute An­nual Meet­ing

The An­nual meet­ing of the Austin W.I. took place on Wed. Feb. 10th 2016 at the home of Betty Telford in Ma­gog. At 1 p.m. the meet­ing was opened with all re­peat­ing the M.S. Col­lect & Salute to the Cana­dian Flag. The Motto for Jan­uary was read as fol­lows: As frosty winds blow & snowflakes fall, The New Year warms the hearts of all! Fed. Motto: Though the days are longer in Fe­bru­ary – The end makes many of us Fe­bruweary! Roll Call was an­swered by 7 mem­bers by pay­ing their an­nual dues & recit­ing a Valen­tine – hu­mor­ous oth­er­wise. As there had been no meet­ing in Jan­uary, Sec. Liz Good­win pre­sented min­utes from the Novem­ber meet­ing and a brief re­port of the De­cem­ber Christ­mas party, which had been hosted by all mem­bers and friends at the Austin Town Hall and much en­joyed by all. Many thanks to ev­ery­one! Treas. Betty Telford read the An­nual Fi­nan­cial Re­port show­ing a favourable bal­ance to carry on our work from Home & Coun­try dur­ing 2016. Betty also pre­sented new Pro­gram books, which she had again pre­pared. All ex­pressed

their sin­cere ap­pre­ci­a­tion to her for all of her W.I. achieve­ments each year. The Bur­saries given by this branch in 2015 are listed as fol­lows: for Brome County, Tyler Lacroix from Galt; Eric Breaul, Home Care pro­gram; Kim­berly Bonin, Home Care pro­gram. Cor­re­spon­dence: Sin­cere let­ters of thanks were given for all the Bur­saries re­ceived. Debi Bonn was the win­ner of the monthly draw­ing which next month will be sup­plied by Win­nie Kirby. At the clos­ing all were treated to a De­li­cious tea by host Betty who was again thanked for ev­ery­thing. The next meet­ing to be held at the Austin Town Hall on March 9th, at 1:30 p.m., Hosts to be all mem­bers with Potluck! Roll Call to be: An Ir­ish or Easter poem & the wear­ing of the green!
