Austin Women’s Institute Annual Meeting
The Annual meeting of the Austin W.I. took place on Wed. Feb. 10th 2016 at the home of Betty Telford in Magog. At 1 p.m. the meeting was opened with all repeating the M.S. Collect & Salute to the Canadian Flag. The Motto for January was read as follows: As frosty winds blow & snowflakes fall, The New Year warms the hearts of all! Fed. Motto: Though the days are longer in February – The end makes many of us Februweary! Roll Call was answered by 7 members by paying their annual dues & reciting a Valentine – humorous otherwise. As there had been no meeting in January, Sec. Liz Goodwin presented minutes from the November meeting and a brief report of the December Christmas party, which had been hosted by all members and friends at the Austin Town Hall and much enjoyed by all. Many thanks to everyone! Treas. Betty Telford read the Annual Financial Report showing a favourable balance to carry on our work from Home & Country during 2016. Betty also presented new Program books, which she had again prepared. All expressed
their sincere appreciation to her for all of her W.I. achievements each year. The Bursaries given by this branch in 2015 are listed as follows: for Brome County, Tyler Lacroix from Galt; Eric Breaul, Home Care program; Kimberly Bonin, Home Care program. Correspondence: Sincere letters of thanks were given for all the Bursaries received. Debi Bonn was the winner of the monthly drawing which next month will be supplied by Winnie Kirby. At the closing all were treated to a Delicious tea by host Betty who was again thanked for everything. The next meeting to be held at the Austin Town Hall on March 9th, at 1:30 p.m., Hosts to be all members with Potluck! Roll Call to be: An Irish or Easter poem & the wearing of the green!
