Magog finalist in Les Vivats contest
Ninety-six percent of the garbage generated during the Fete des neiges de Magog 2015, which was well-attended over two weekends, was diverted from the landfill site.
The City of Magog was happy to announce that the 2015 edition of the Fete des neiges de Magog is a finalist in the Les Vivats contest for the category of waste management. “We stood out for the high level of eco-responsibility attained during the Fete des neiges de Magog. Ninetysix % of the waste generated over the two weekends of the event was diverted from the landfill site when our objective was 75%,” said Elyse Menard, environment coordinator with the city. Jury members found the rate exceptional for an outdoor event.
The city will learn on April 5th if it has won the award. Until then, it thanks all those who helped in the success. “These results were obtained because of the participation of organizers and municipal employees, partners of the festival, volunteers and, of course, the participants,” said Ms. Menard.
