Regional Hydro-Quebec Science Fair this weekend
From March 18th to the 20th, 101 science projects created by students aged from 6 to 20 will be up for awards and a lot of prize money at the regional final of the Hydro-Quebec Science Fair, put on by the Conseil du loisir scientifique de l’Estrie (CLSE) and the Université de Sherbrooke.
Student projects from eight elementary schools, ten high schools and three colleges have made it to the final which will be held at the Centre Culturel of the Université de Sherbrooke. Besides the 152 students taking part, 120 volunteers also take part in the event from receiving the presenters and the public to judging the projects.
The elementary school projects will be displayed on Friday only, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Some of the subjects of the projects will explore topics like why yoyos go back up, whale echolocation, and how flowers ‘court’. The high school and college projects can be seen on Saturday (11:00 am to 5:00 pm) and Sunday (9:15 am to 11:45 am).
