Re­gional Hy­dro-Que­bec Sci­ence Fair this week­end

From March 18th to the 20th, 101 sci­ence projects cre­ated by stu­dents aged from 6 to 20 will be up for awards and a lot of prize money at the re­gional fi­nal of the Hy­dro-Que­bec Sci­ence Fair, put on by the Con­seil du loisir sci­en­tifique de l’Estrie (CLSE) and the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke.

Stu­dent projects from eight el­e­men­tary schools, ten high schools and three col­leges have made it to the fi­nal which will be held at the Cen­tre Cul­turel of the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke. Be­sides the 152 stu­dents tak­ing part, 120 vol­un­teers also take part in the event from re­ceiv­ing the pre­sen­ters and the pub­lic to judg­ing the projects.

The el­e­men­tary school projects will be dis­played on Fri­day only, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Some of the sub­jects of the projects will ex­plore top­ics like why yoyos go back up, whale echolo­ca­tion, and how flow­ers ‘court’. The high school and col­lege projects can be seen on Satur­day (11:00 am to 5:00 pm) and Sun­day (9:15 am to 11:45 am).
