The Com­posers’ Fo­rum fea­tur­ing Qu­a­trou­vailles

This Fri­day, April 1 at 8:00 p.m., Musique Chez Nous proudly presents Qu­a­trou­vailles, a new string quar­tet from Mon­treal who will grace the stage of Ban­deen Hall per­form­ing new com­po­si­tions freshly cre­ated by Mu­sic Depart­ment stu­dents un­der the sure guid­ance of Bishop’s Juno Award win­ning com­poser, Andrew MacDon­ald.

Qu­a­trou­vailles is ded­i­cated to the preser­va­tion of the great quar­tet tra­di­tion as well as the cre­ation of new reper­toire. This ex­cit­ing quar­tet in­cludes some won­der­ful mu­si­cians! Vi­o­lin­ist Caro­line Chéhadé is con­cert mas­ter of the Orchestre sym­phonique de Longueuil, won the Prix d’Europe in 2007 and three times won the Canada Coun­cil’s In­stru­ment Bank Com­pe­ti­tion. Va­lerié Belzile holds a doc­tor­ate in per­for­mance from the Univer­sité de Mon­tréal and plays vi­o­lin in the Orchestre sym­phonique de Laval, the Orchestre sym­phonique de Longueuil, and the Orchestre des Grands Bal­lets Canadiens de Mon­tréal. Vi­o­list Bo­jana Mili­nov holds a doc­tor­ate in per­for­mance from the Univer­sité de Mon­tréal and is a mem­ber of the Orchestre des Grands Bal­lets Canadiens de Mon­tréal and the Qu­atuor Serbe Mokran­jac. Guest artist Carla An­toun is prin­ci­pal cel­list with the Orchestre des Grands Bal­lets Canadiens de Mon­tréal and has taught at the Mu­sic Academy of Bey­routh, the Con­ser­va­toire de musique du Que­bec in Mon­treal and the Academy of Mu­sic in Vi­enna.

Come hear new mu­sic by De­laney Ziebarth, Wael Mah­moud, Jaymin Lapointe, Everett James Dal­ing­wa­ter, Huanyang Li, Lau­rence Jo­bidon, Tim Fran­coeur and Alex Cat­ta­neo, as well some more tra­di­tional works by Vi­valdi, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Pi­az­zolla!
