The Composers’ Forum featuring Quatrouvailles
This Friday, April 1 at 8:00 p.m., Musique Chez Nous proudly presents Quatrouvailles, a new string quartet from Montreal who will grace the stage of Bandeen Hall performing new compositions freshly created by Music Department students under the sure guidance of Bishop’s Juno Award winning composer, Andrew MacDonald.
Quatrouvailles is dedicated to the preservation of the great quartet tradition as well as the creation of new repertoire. This exciting quartet includes some wonderful musicians! Violinist Caroline Chéhadé is concert master of the Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil, won the Prix d’Europe in 2007 and three times won the Canada Council’s Instrument Bank Competition. Valerié Belzile holds a doctorate in performance from the Université de Montréal and plays violin in the Orchestre symphonique de Laval, the Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil, and the Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. Violist Bojana Milinov holds a doctorate in performance from the Université de Montréal and is a member of the Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and the Quatuor Serbe Mokranjac. Guest artist Carla Antoun is principal cellist with the Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and has taught at the Music Academy of Beyrouth, the Conservatoire de musique du Quebec in Montreal and the Academy of Music in Vienna.
Come hear new music by Delaney Ziebarth, Wael Mahmoud, Jaymin Lapointe, Everett James Dalingwater, Huanyang Li, Laurence Jobidon, Tim Francoeur and Alex Cattaneo, as well some more traditional works by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Piazzolla!
