TheMemphremagog MRC’s council of mayors recently ratified its adhesion to the charter of healthy living habits. “The elected officials of the MRC believe they have a common responsibility to improve the quality of life of the youth on the territory and their families,” commented Jacques Demers, the prefect of the MRC. “In various fields of competence, the MRC has already become involved with healthy living habits. For example, it has made efforts to make the population aware about the buying and consuming of local products and about healthy waste management. On the tourist side, the MRC has promoted sporting activities, bicycle trails and hiking paths. So it is natural to promote the charter of healthy living habits to its citizens.”

With the adoption of the charter, the MRC commits to favor decisions that, as much as possible, will keep in mind healthy eating and an active lifestyle. It will support and make known already existing actions in the region and around the province that will help the population adopt better habits.

“Besides contributing to the health of all, healthy lifestyle habits improve the attraction of the region. Everyone benefits from a region that offers a healthy and active lifestyle,” added Mr. Demers.
