Kelsey Burnham, Vincent Delange and Olivier Grenier have been named the March athletes of the month at Alexander Galt High School. Burnham helped lead her team to a bronze medal in the RSEQ juvenile girls AA basketball league by averaging 12 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals per game. Head coach Jon Goyette said, “she played with a lot of heart and determination and rarely came off the floor and provided great leadership at both ends of the court for us”. The 16-year old senior also excels academically by being part of the honour roll list. The Sherbrooke resident has been part of the sports concentration program for five years and will now turn her focus to winning another gold medal in badminton.
Delange and Grenier dominated the RSEQ badminton circuit all year and they recently won the gold medal at the regional championships this past month in the juvenile boys double category. The senior students will represent the Estrie at the provincial championships in Amqui, Quebec April 23 and 24. Delange also won the gold medal in the singles category while Grenier won the silver medal in the singles category. We wish them the best of luck as they have represented Galt very well on and off the court for the last five years.
