$12 million from Quebec to reduce drop-outs

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier

The TECIE (Table estrienne de concertation interordres en education) and the PREE (Projet partenaires pour la reussite educative en Estrie) are both happy with the announcement by the Quebec government of an investment of almost $12.8 million to support school perseverance and educational success IRC’s (instances regionals de concertation). With the announcement the government recognizes the importance of this work in the success of youth and its contribution in meeting the ministry’s diploma aims. This clear support and collaboration will be important in the development of a supported partnership with the Quebec government and will be hopeful for the youth of the Estrie and all regions of Quebec. The TECIE and the PREE will be active and involved partners in this collaboration.

The TECIE has as its mission the mobilization of the entire community in the Estrie to make school success a major issue in the social, economic and cultural development of the region. The PREE Project is responsible for putting in motion mobilization and action plans to reduce the high school drop-out rate and increase the number of youth with diplomas in the Estrie.
