Steroid net­work taken down

The Sherbrooke po­lice ser­vice car­ried out a se­ries of oper­a­tions on Wed­nes­day, April 13th, fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion last­ing sev­eral months. The in­ves­ti­ga­tors car­ried out eight searches aimed at dis­man­tling a well-struc­tured net­work of steroid pro­duc­tion and traf­fick­ing. The searches took place at res­i­dences at 147 Vimy Street, 330 15th Av­enue (Saint Jean sur le Riche­lieu), 471 Welling­ton South, 1015 Qua­tre Saisons Street, apart­ment 104, 89 Riviere Street in Bed­ford (place of pro­duc­tion), and in a ware­house at 125 Con­radGos­selin (Saint Jean sur le Riche­lieu).

Dur­ing the searches the fol­low­ing was seized: two presses to make pills; stamps with lo­gos; thou­sands of pills that could be metham­phetamine; thou­sands of steroid pills; thou­sands of steroid sam­ples in liq­uid form; about $6000 in cash; com­put­ers, cell­phones and steroid price lists; la­bels to put on the flasks of steroids; bags with fake med­i­cal com­pany mark­ings; chem­i­cal prod­ucts used in the pro­duc­tion of steroids; recipes to make steroids; a gun, pep­per spray and a re­tractable stick; a BMW X5 2007 and a Jeep Grand Chero­kee 2007.

The Sureté du Que­bec and the Saint Jean sur le Riche­lieu po­lice ser­vice also took part in the searches. The eight sus­pects, men be­tween 23 and 25 years of age as well as a 25 year-old woman, all from Sherbrooke, Bed­ford and Saint Jean sur le Riche­lieu, are charged with pos­ses­sion of steroids for traf­fick­ing and pro­duc­tion. Other charges may also be laid.

The Sureté du Que­bec car­ried out an op­er­a­tion in East Angus on April 14th, search­ing a res­i­dence and a garage ad­ja­cent to Martineau Street. An­other search took place in Angus Nord in a garage that was used to store prod­ucts of con­tra­band

to­bacco. Three ve­hi­cles were also searched. Three men aged 60, 49 and 42 were im­pli­cated in a black mar­ket to­bacco net­work op­er­at­ing in the re­gion and will face charges. Dur­ing the searches, the po­lice seized 134,000 cig­a­rettes and three ve­hi­cles used to trans­port the to­bacco.

The Regie de po­lice Mem­phrem­a­gog is in­ves­ti­gat­ing a break-in and en­ter­ing and theft at the Citrouille et Tour­nesol busi­ness, si­t­u­ated at 1700 Rang 13, in Or­ford. The theft took place be­tween Wed­nes­day, April 13th and April 14th, 2016. The ob­jects stolen were a lawn trac­tor, a pres­sure ma­chine and moto-cross hel­mets.
