Steroid network taken down
The Sherbrooke police service carried out a series of operations on Wednesday, April 13th, following an investigation lasting several months. The investigators carried out eight searches aimed at dismantling a well-structured network of steroid production and trafficking. The searches took place at residences at 147 Vimy Street, 330 15th Avenue (Saint Jean sur le Richelieu), 471 Wellington South, 1015 Quatre Saisons Street, apartment 104, 89 Riviere Street in Bedford (place of production), and in a warehouse at 125 ConradGosselin (Saint Jean sur le Richelieu).
During the searches the following was seized: two presses to make pills; stamps with logos; thousands of pills that could be methamphetamine; thousands of steroid pills; thousands of steroid samples in liquid form; about $6000 in cash; computers, cellphones and steroid price lists; labels to put on the flasks of steroids; bags with fake medical company markings; chemical products used in the production of steroids; recipes to make steroids; a gun, pepper spray and a retractable stick; a BMW X5 2007 and a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007.
The Sureté du Quebec and the Saint Jean sur le Richelieu police service also took part in the searches. The eight suspects, men between 23 and 25 years of age as well as a 25 year-old woman, all from Sherbrooke, Bedford and Saint Jean sur le Richelieu, are charged with possession of steroids for trafficking and production. Other charges may also be laid.
The Sureté du Quebec carried out an operation in East Angus on April 14th, searching a residence and a garage adjacent to Martineau Street. Another search took place in Angus Nord in a garage that was used to store products of contraband
tobacco. Three vehicles were also searched. Three men aged 60, 49 and 42 were implicated in a black market tobacco network operating in the region and will face charges. During the searches, the police seized 134,000 cigarettes and three vehicles used to transport the tobacco.
The Regie de police Memphremagog is investigating a break-in and entering and theft at the Citrouille et Tournesol business, situated at 1700 Rang 13, in Orford. The theft took place between Wednesday, April 13th and April 14th, 2016. The objects stolen were a lawn tractor, a pressure machine and moto-cross helmets.
