Mas­saw­ippi Mu­sic Fes­ti­val – Es­tria Quin­tet

Mas­saw­ippi Mu­sic Fes­ti­val will be back this June 2016 and tick­ets are now on sale. Pre­sented at the charm­ing St. El­iz­a­beth’s church, in one of the most beau­ti­ful vil­lages of Québec, North Hat­ley, this event mar­ries the best of na­ture, cul­ture and his­tory. This sec­ond edi­tion of the fes­ti­val, pre­sented by The Es­tria Wood­wind Quin­tet, will of­fer mu­sic lovers a va­ri­ety of mu­si­cal styles from dif­fer­ent pe­ri­ods, all per­formed by out­stand­ing mu­si­cians.

June 4th at 8:00 pm, the prin­ci­pal clar­inetist of the Metropoli­tan Or­ches­tra of Mon­tréal, Simon Aldrich, will join the mag­nif­i­cent pi­anist, Janelle Fung for the grand open­ing of the fes­ti­val. This « spec­tac­u­lar player » (Los An­ge­les Times) will take ev­ery­one on a « Mu­si­cal Voy­age » with works by Bar­tok, Glick, Mahler, Cahuzac, Vaughn Wil­liams, Guas­tavino and Brahms.

June 11th at 8:00 pm, it is the vir­tu­os­ity and bril­liance of the En­sem­ble Caprice that will be on of­fer. Un­der the di­rec­tion of Matthias Maute (or­ches­tra and choir con­duc­tor, vir­tu­oso of the recorder and flute, and com­poser), this JUNO award win­ning en­sem­ble will present the pro­gram : Vi­valdi, Bach et cie, iLove baroque.

June 18th at 8:00 pm, two ex­tremely tal­ented East­ern Town­ships mu­si­cians: cel­list Erich Kory from Ayer’s Cliff; and pi­anist Tris­tan Long­val-Gagné from Sher­brooke, will un­veil « The Time­less Cello », a chrono­log­i­cal tour of mu­si­cal mas­ter­pieces. On the evening’s pro­gram, works by Bach, Beethoven, De­bussy, Rach­mani­noff and We­bern.

to con­clude the fes­ti­val with a bang, on Satur­day June 25th at 8:00 pm, the con­cert­mas­ter of the Toronto Sym­phony Or­ches­tra, Jonathan Crow, and the con­cert­mas­ter of the Mon­tréal Sym­phony Or­ches­tra, An­drew Wan, will join the su­perb pi­anist Philip Chiu for an amaz­ing pro­gram en­ti­tled « Moz-Art », with works by Le­clair, Prokofiev, Sch­nit­tke, Chopin, McKin­ley and Moskowski.
