Big bike sale this Saturday
Seen here getting ready for Sherbrooke’s annual used bike sale are (l. to r.): Claude Belleau, General Director Estrie Aide; Philippe Marchessault, Estrie Aide; Marquis Abel, chief mechanic Estrie Aide; and the mayor of Sherbrooke, Bernard Sévigny.
Almost six hundred used bicycles will be up for sale in Sherbrooke’s annual Foire aux velos, to be held this Saturday, from 8:00 am to noon, at Estrie Aide, 345 Wellington Street, in Sherbrooke. People interested in buying a bike can go to the presale on Friday, between 9:00 am and noon, to examine the bikes available. Since some of the bicycles come from the Sherbrooke Police Service, an officer will be on hand in case someone who has lost a bike or had it stolen can reclaim the bicycle, with a copy of the bike’s bill. People cannot reclaim bikes on the day of the sale.
The bikes cannot be paid for by cheque, only cash, debit card or credit card, and people can only buy one bike at a time. Volunteers from the Coop la Deraille will make any needed mechanical adjustments to the bikes that are bought, for free.
