Gourmet Bridge Club News
While the Gourmet Bridge Club held its final game of the season Saturday at the Gateway, other bridge groups are continuing. For 27 years, Faith Olsen has been involved in organizing the games which include some 40 players or more from Vermont and Quebec on her list. She was presented with a gift certificate in appreciation for her work. This year there were 11 games preceded by a luncheon held at various restaurants. Marcie Mastin had the highest single score of the day on March 5 of 7000, followed by Eric McCann on April 9 of 6870. High averages for the season were Pat Hunt 5533, Faith Olsen 5369, Sally Newton 4800, John Newton 4639, Candy Moot 4589, and Eric McCann 4573.
Wednesday duplicate games at the Newport Library organized by Eric McCann had the following top two scores: on April 13, Lillian Kelley and Eric McCann; April 20, Anne Seadale and Sally Newton; April 20, Lillian Kelley and Don Hunt.
For the Monday Sanctioned ACBL games, winners April 11 were the following pairs: Barbara Varney and Fran Williams, Sally Newton and Marcie Mastin, Al Traver and Barbara Buchanan, Huguette Black and Anne Seadale. On April 18 it was Joan Lebaron and Barbara Varney, Jeanie Clermont and Eric McCann, Jon and Casey Eldridge, Carl Stoneham and Anna Leland, Janet Long and Ben Mastin. For April 25 it was Steve Randle and Deny Lister, Anna Leland and Carl Stoneham, Anne Seadale and Huguette Black, Pat Hunt and Lillian Kelley.
