Bigelow and Be­yond: Coun­try Gar­dens Then and Now

As the gar­den­ing sea­son gets un­der­way, Stu­dio Ge­orgeville is pay­ing spe­cial trib­ute to the Bigelow Pioneer Gar­den in Ge­orgeville in an ex­hi­bi­tion ti­tled Bigelow and Be­yond: Coun­try Gar­dens Then and Now. The vernissage will take place at Stu­dio Ge­orgeville, 20 carré Copp, Ge­orgeville, on Satur­day, May 7th, from 3 to 5 p.m. Jac­ques Vali­quette will present a short his­tory of the Bigelow Pioneer Gar­den at 3 p.m.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will run un­til June 12th and will show­case ce­ramic art, hand­crafted gar­den tools, jew­ellery, paint­ings, pho­tos, sculp­tures, and stained glass. The par­tic­i­pat­ing artists in­clude Louise Ab­bott, Duff Ar­mour, Jen­nifer Batty, Michel Bor­nais, Mary Cart­mel, Ja­cyn­the Comeau, Vir­ginia Cope, Lucy Do­heny, Niels Jensen, David Mac­Don­ald, Dale Mills, Natanya Neren­berg, Linda Pea­cock, and Carla Straessle.

The Bigelow Gar­den­ers— the com­mu­nity vol­un­teers who main­tain the Bigelow Pioneer Gar­den—will hold a plant sale at Stu­dio Ge­orgeville on Sun­day, May 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will also hold a flo­ral and hor­ti­cul­tural de­sign com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day, June 5th. The dead­line for reg­is­tra­tion is June 1st.
