Waterville Community Centre planning a party

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Victoria Vanier Waterville

The Waterville Community Centre is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a community supper (potluck) on Saturday, May 7th, beginning at 5:00 pm. During the supper there will be songs, drums, trapeze performances and musicians, followed by a dance from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

In 2009, a few citizens and elected officials dreamed of having a dynamic, creative place where people could get together. They imagined an intergenerational space where citizens could take initiative. In 2010, the organization was founded. The involvement of many volunteers and the support of the town of Waterville made the dream possible. Since then, strategic planning, the hiring of a coordinator, the Brique des batisseurs fundraising campaign and more projects and community events have taken shape, like the traditional Christmas dance.

In 2015, the center had more than 300 registrations for various activities such as courses, events and training, an increase of 25% from the previous year. More and more, citizens are using the community center for cultural, sporting and recreational activities.

People from the area are cordially invited to the event on May 7th where some of the performances will highlight some of the center’s activities. The Community Centre is at 660 rue de Couvent, Waterville.
