Wiseman-Beese and Justras Plante Named Piper Athletes of the Month

Stanstead Journal - - CLASSIFIEDS - Robert Fisk, Special collaboration, Galt

Wiseman-Beese and Enrick Justras Plante have been named the Piper Athletes of the month for April at Alexander Galt High School. Beese won the Junior Girls Singles gold medal at the 46th Annual Galt Badminton Tournament this past weekend. The 15-year old went undefeated throughout the tournament posting an 8-0 record. The grade 9 student brought a good attitude and worked hard every practice in preparation for the competition. The Austin resident also excels in the classroom where she sits on the Principals List. Justras Plante won the Junior Boys Singles gold medal, but did it the hard way. The 15 year old lost his first game of the tournament and was forced to win the rest of his games or be knocked out. The Magog resident has been part of the sports concentration program for four years now and academically sits on the Honour Roll List. Athletic co-ordinator Robbie Fisk said, “I am proud of Enrick as he took on a big challenge when he came to Galt as a 12 year old boy. He could hardly speak a word of English. Four years later he is bilingual and excels in two sports (badminton and hockey) and a model student for our younger students.”

The Alexander Galt badminton team won the school’s 46th annual tournament over the weekend.
