Schools get needed funding
Orford MNA Pierre Reid, in the company of ETSB president Michael Murray and CSS president Jean-Philippe Bachand, announced investments of $2,417,916 for renovations in schools in the Orford riding, all to be done in 2016.
Local projects include: $125,000 to fix the exterior walls of North Hatley Elementary; $100,000 to replace lighting at Princess Elizabeth Elementary School; $515,916 for major work to Notre-Dame-des-Erables school; $730,000 for major work to Sainte Margeurite school; and $125,000 to La Ruche high school to replace ventilation units.
“Schools are important environments for our children and for the personnel who work there. They must be in good shape and safe. This is why our government, along with the school boards, are increasing our actions to prevent, detect and correct problems in teaching establishments. The more attractive our schools are, the more our youth will bloom,” commented the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sport, Sebastien Proulx.
