Sun­ny­side’s fund-rais­ing book sale this week

Sun­ny­side Ele­men­tary’s an­nual Scholas­tic book sale is hap­pen­ing this week, from May 9th to May 13th, and this year’s theme is ‘Mon­strous’. The Scholas­tic Mon­ster Themed Book Fair will have books avail­able for chil­dren of pre-school age right up to young adult, and ev­ery­one is wel­come to take a look at the books avail­able, whether they have chil­dren at the school or not. If you would like to visit the book fair, it will be open to the pub­lic on May 11th from 2:30 to 6:30 pm, or you can call 819 876-2469 to make an ap­point­ment.

This year’s sales goal is $1,600, which would give the school 50 % of the book prof­its to be used to buy books for the class­rooms. The books range in price from $2.50 to about $40 for spe­cial books.

Back to be­ing open six days a week, the Colby-Curtis Museum is hold­ing the vernissage, this Fri­day from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, for the tem­po­rary ex­hibit “Wish you were here; Post­cards from the towns and vil­lages of Stanstead County”. The ex­hibit fea­tures over two hun­dred post­cards from towns such as Derby Line, Rock Is­land, Stanstead, Ayer’s Cliff,
