Stanstead Journal - - CLASSIFIEDS - Coaticook

The Beaulne Museum of Coaticook is pleased to present the exhibit “Contes du coeur magique” by the artist Barbara Sala from the 8th of May to the 3rd of July 2016. The grand opening will be held on Sunday the 15th of May at 2pm. The public and the press are cordially invited.

« When you enter the universe of Barbara Sala’s creations, Michel Forest writes; curator of the International Museum of naïve art in Magog; our first impression might be to feel as if you are in a child’s world. Though, this impression can be deceptive because Barbara Sale’s creations are not childlike at all. It is an adult’s universe with adult themes with continuing stages to self-analysis. A phase rich in symbols and realities, which she chooses heartedly to share with you.”

With a brush and canvas, she enters the magical kingdom of her heart. Through symbols and ideas, she tells stories without really knowing the storylines. Her teaching tool is her mysterious and dreamlike quality with a childlike style being the basic content of her life and her views towards the world.

Born in Germany and world traveler, Barbara Sala moved to Quebec, Montreal in 1974. Since1987, Barbara has presented over fifteen solo exhibits throughout Quebec. She has also participated in many group exhibits in Quebec, in the United States, in Poland, in France, in Italy, in Tunisia, in Israel and in Spain.

She has been awarded many prestigious prizes for her creations which can be found in many museums and private collections here and elsewhere as well as numerous publications.
