Police News – Driver gets $1,445 fine
Drinking and driving was behind an accident that took place on the ramp of entrance 118 of autoroute 10 late on Saturday night, early Sunday. The vehicle went off the road near the turn and the accident was called in by a witness. The police found the driver, a 27 year-old woman from Sherbrooke, and arrested her immediately. Her license was suspended for ninety days and her vehicle was seized for thirty days.
On Thursday, May 12th, the Regie de police Memphremagog stopped a vehicle on Bowen Street, in Magog. The twenty year-old female driver from Stanstead was arrested for drinking and driving, her vehicle was seized for thirty days and her permit was suspended for ninety days. She also received a $481 fine and four demerit points.
Also on May 12th, at around 6:50 am on the Fitch Bay Road, in Magog, the police caught a driver going 157 km/hr in an 80km/hr zone. The Stanstead Township man stopped at the side of the road when the police put on their flashers and told the police that he was speeding because he was late for work. The 22 year-old received a fine of $1,445 and accumulated 14 inaptitude points and had his license suspended for seven days.
