Po­lice News – Driver gets $1,445 fine

Drink­ing and driv­ing was be­hind an ac­ci­dent that took place on the ramp of en­trance 118 of au­toroute 10 late on Satur­day night, early Sun­day. The ve­hi­cle went off the road near the turn and the ac­ci­dent was called in by a wit­ness. The po­lice found the driver, a 27 year-old woman from Sher­brooke, and ar­rested her im­me­di­ately. Her li­cense was sus­pended for ninety days and her ve­hi­cle was seized for thirty days.

On Thurs­day, May 12th, the Regie de po­lice Mem­phrem­a­gog stopped a ve­hi­cle on Bowen Street, in Ma­gog. The twenty year-old fe­male driver from Stanstead was ar­rested for drink­ing and driv­ing, her ve­hi­cle was seized for thirty days and her per­mit was sus­pended for ninety days. She also re­ceived a $481 fine and four de­merit points.

Also on May 12th, at around 6:50 am on the Fitch Bay Road, in Ma­gog, the po­lice caught a driver go­ing 157 km/hr in an 80km/hr zone. The Stanstead Town­ship man stopped at the side of the road when the po­lice put on their flash­ers and told the po­lice that he was speed­ing be­cause he was late for work. The 22 year-old re­ceived a fine of $1,445 and ac­cu­mu­lated 14 in­ap­ti­tude points and had his li­cense sus­pended for seven days.
