Earth-friendly shop­ping in Sher­brooke

The City of Sher­brooke will be hold­ing its city-wide garage sales for the next three week­ends, be­gin­ning in the bor­oughs of Fleu­ri­mont and Bromp­ton on May 21st and the 22nd. The fol­low­ing week­end, May 28th and the 29th, the garage sales will take place in the bor­oughs of Len­noxville and Jac­ques-Cartier. The Ladies Aux­il­iary of the ANAF Unit 318 (the Hut) have a garage sale planned for May 28th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. On June 4th and 5th there will be garage sales in the bor­oughs of Rock For­est-Saint ElieDeauville and Mont Belle­vue.

An in­ter­ac­tive map and the ad­dresses of the sales will be avail­able on the city’s web­site, un­der ‘vente-de­bar­ras’, at the Sher­brooke tourist in­for­ma­tion of­fice at 785 King West, and at the bor­ough of­fices be­gin­ning on the Tues­day be­fore each of the sales.

Sher­brooke’s Grande Tournée des ventes-de­bar­ras was started in 2001 to pro­mote the sell­ing and re-use of items.

Town­ships his­tory is tak­ing a huge step in the 21st cen­tury. In­for­ma­tion on thou­sands of pho­to­graphs, frayed deeds of sale, and hand­writ­ten diaries are now avail­able on­line on the new East­ern Town­ships Ar­chives Por­tal.

There­fore, the East­ern Town­ships Re­source Centre (ETRC) cor­dially in­vites you to the launch of the brand new East­ern Town­ships Ar­chives Por­tal on May 26th at 6pm in the Fore­man Art Gallery on the Bishop’s Univer­sity cam­pus. The ETRC is wel­com­ing his­to­rien Dr. Julie Al­lard as guest speaker for this evening.
