Stanstead County Women’s In­sti­tute An­nual Meet­ing

The an­nual Stanstead County Women’s In­sti­tute met on April 15th with 5 mem­bers present. The meet­ing was opened by Dyanne Saanum, County Pres­i­dent. She thanked Janet McLel­lan for open­ing her home for the meet­ing. The Col­lect and Salute to the Flag were re­cited by all. Cor­re­spon­dence since last meet­ing was a Christ­mas card from Pierre Reid, apol­ogy from Bar­bara He­witt for not be able to at­tend this meet­ing, thank you from Deb­bie Smith for her Sun­shine Bas­ket. The an­nual Trea­surer’s Re­port and Sec­re­tary’s Re­ports were given by Phyl­lis and both were ac­cepted and passed. Dyanne thanked mem­bers for their sup­port at the W.I. ta­ble at the Ayer’s Cliff Christ­mas Vil­lage in De­cem­ber 2015. Phyl­lis re­ported that the Ayer’s Cliff Culture Day will be Septem­ber 24th and Ayer’s Cliff Li­brary Book Sale is June 25th. The an­nual con­venor re­ports were read and ac­cepted. Elaine Stone was asked if she would send in write up of meet­ing to the Record and Jour­nal. New Busi­ness: Dyanne re­ported that the an­nual Q.W.I. Pro­vin­cial Con­ven­tion is May 21st at Macdon­ald Cam­pus. New QWI by-law book­lets will be avail­able later in year. A do­na­tion was given to Matthew Shel­don, a North Hat­ley stu­dent, to help with his school trip. A do­na­tion was also given to the Ma­gog Hospi­tal Foun­da­tion. The next meet­ing will be in Au­gust be­fore the Ayer’s Cliff Fair. The meet­ing was ad­journed and ev­ery­one en­joyed de­li­cious re­fresh­ments pre­pared by our host­ess Janet.
