Town­ship­per heads to ‘Fid­dle Fight’

Wel­come Court­ney Drew, 18-year-old from Cook­shire-Ea­ton, Que­bec who just signed up for the Dan­de­lion Fid­dlers Con­test on May 21st, 2016 in New­port, Ver­mont. The con­test is part of the in­au­gu­ral Dan­de­lion Fid­dleFest hosted by King­dom Games, The East­Side Restau­rant, and Scott Camp­bell. It is be­ing held in con­junc­tion with the Eighth An­nual Dan­de­lion Run. Many of those par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Fid­dleFest will also be play­ing out on the run ear­lier in the day. Court­ney says, "I stud­ied clas­si­cal vi­olin start­ing at age 7, but soon dis­cov­ered a pas­sion for var­i­ous styles of fid­dle mu­sic." This will be Court­ney's first fid­dle fight. She is join­ing other con­tes­tants on this side of the border from Orleans County and North­ern Ver­mont.

The con­test is judged with cash prizes in three di­vi­sions, Senior, Ju­nior and Open and runs from 4 pm to 7 pm. “The in­vi­ta­tion is go­ing out far and wide to fid­dlers on both sides of the border to help us kick off this very first Dan­de­lion Fid­dlers Con­test,” said or­ga­nizer Scott Camp­bell, a cham­pion mas­ter fid­dler from Barre, Ver­mont.

In ad­di­tion to the fid­dle con­test, the Fid­dleFest will host two din­ners at the East­Side with Reck­less Break­fast, a con­tem­po­rary and eclec­tic blue grass band, play­ing Fri­day night and Scott Camp­bell & Friends play­ing Satur­day night
