Townshipper heads to ‘Fiddle Fight’
Welcome Courtney Drew, 18-year-old from Cookshire-Eaton, Quebec who just signed up for the Dandelion Fiddlers Contest on May 21st, 2016 in Newport, Vermont. The contest is part of the inaugural Dandelion FiddleFest hosted by Kingdom Games, The EastSide Restaurant, and Scott Campbell. It is being held in conjunction with the Eighth Annual Dandelion Run. Many of those participating in the FiddleFest will also be playing out on the run earlier in the day. Courtney says, "I studied classical violin starting at age 7, but soon discovered a passion for various styles of fiddle music." This will be Courtney's first fiddle fight. She is joining other contestants on this side of the border from Orleans County and Northern Vermont.
The contest is judged with cash prizes in three divisions, Senior, Junior and Open and runs from 4 pm to 7 pm. “The invitation is going out far and wide to fiddlers on both sides of the border to help us kick off this very first Dandelion Fiddlers Contest,” said organizer Scott Campbell, a champion master fiddler from Barre, Vermont.
In addition to the fiddle contest, the FiddleFest will host two dinners at the EastSide with Reckless Breakfast, a contemporary and eclectic blue grass band, playing Friday night and Scott Campbell & Friends playing Saturday night
