Fishing for kids this weekend
Members of the Lake Massawippi Conservation Club will be initiating the young and old alike, this coming weekend, to the peaceful pastime of fishing. On June 4th they will be at the wharf in Ayer’s Cliff beginning at 9:00 am. A net will be installed and the club will release Brown Trout into the netted area so youngsters can easily catch a ‘big’ one. All the fishing equipment will be provided and members of the club will be there to teach the kids how to fish safely. Children will also receive a free fishing permit which will be good until they reach eighteen years of age.
There will be free hotdogs and drinks and people will also have the chance to join the Lake Massawippi Conservation Club or renew their membership. On June 5th, at the wharf in North Hatley, the same activities will take place.
During the annual Fete de la Peche, which takes place all over Quebec from June 3rd to June 5th, people taking part in the events to promote the sport of fishing don’t need to have fishing permits but they must respect quotas.
