Colby’s new website more useful
The Colby-Curtis Museum has a new, more user-friendly website. The new site features more information about the museum’s collection, past and present exhibits, museum services, and its history. Right on the site, people now have the option of renewing membership to or joining the Stanstead Historical Society, making a donation to the museum, and buying tickets to museum events.
A new exhibit featuring the work of Orson Wheeler, of Way’s Mills, will be opening on June 18th and running until the end of July. “The exhibit will have many of his sculptures of busts of familiar people like Mr. Hackett and Jessie Colby; it’s incredible how faithful he was to the character of the people. Some of his architectural models, part of the McGill Collection, will be on display. There will be a few nudes and some artefacts as well,” said Chloe Southam, the museum’s Director and Curator. The “Wish you were here; Postcards from towns and villages of Stanstead County” exhibit has been extended until the end of August.
The museum will hold its Annual General Meeting on June 18th, 10:00 am, followed by a lecture/luncheon with guest speaker Barbara Barclay, a friend of Orson Wheeler. Coming up on July 9th will be the Colby-Curtis’ main fundraising cocktail-dinner, this year being held right at the museum in its beautiful garden. The evening will feature a live auction, jazz music and tours of the exhibits. Tickets are already on sale on the new website.
