Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier

Finally, a local treasure is getting some support from the federal government. At the beginning of August, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie and Compton-Stanstead MP Marie-Claude Bibeau announced financial support in the amount of $52,250 for Les Sentiers Massawippi. The money will be used to continue the work to repair and rebuild the Tomifobia Nature Trail which was damaged in 2015. Much work has already been done on the trail by the organization to ensure that it could open earlier in the spring, much to the delight of the many bikers and hikers who use the trail daily. Although there is still work to be done, people using the trail can ride from Ayer’s Cliff to Stanstead safely and without any detours.

The money comes from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program and will be used to install new culverts, stabilize the land, improve the signs and repair two bridges.
