Stanstead East opens doors this Sunday
On Sunday, August 21st, Stanstead East is holding another “Portes Ouvertes”, a community get-together to which visitors from all over are also welcome. This year, the event will be based at George Weller’s airport, at 4945 Stage Road, where the community dinner of corn and hot-dogs will take place as well as plane-related activities for children. “Mr. Weller’s airport will be our main site. There will be special activity for children there to build and paint small planes,” said Gilbert Ferland, the mayor of Stanstead East. Mr. Weller will be on hand to answer questions about the small aircraft on site and maybe even about how he builds his own airplanes!
The other sites that will be hosting special activities throughout the day are Meubles Accessoires Granite, also on the Stage Road, The Paxton Family’s Dreamside Stables on the Hartley Road, the Ferme Roggua on Fairfax Road, a beautiful dairy farm that will feature a mini-farm and Coaticook ice cream, the Heath Orchard where fresh vegetables, apples and pottery await, and Holland Gardens on route 141. The event takes place between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, rain or shine. The main site for the Stanstead East “Portes Ouvertes” event will be George Weller’s airport, CTQ2, on the Stage Road, where visitors can admire the small aircraft parked there and children can build and paint airplane models.
