Young farmers want “Produit du Quebec” labels to stick
The Syndicat de la releve agricole is not happy with the change to Quebec’s food labeling law by Agriculture Minister Pierre Paradis. It is no longer obligatory for merchants to put a “Produit du Quebec” label on Quebec fruits and vegetables when they are sold in bulk at markets or grocery stores. According to MAPAQ, the change to the law was made to make it easier for merchants to sell ‘older’ produce, leading to less food waste.
