Sierra Hull, Alvin Ailey II, Vienna Boys Choir and more

Stanstead Journal - - STANSTEAD JOURNAL - St. Jay, VT

Bluegrass mandolin ace Sierra Hull will return to the Northeast Kingdom Friday, September 16th, to kick off the KCP Presents 2016-17 season. After releasing her first album at 10 years old, Hull was mentored and befriended by Grammy-winner (and former child fiddle prodigy) Alison Krauss. In the following few years, Sierra Hull picked up five International Bluegrass Association nominations and the Bluegrass Star Award. In 2011, at 20 years old, Hull gave a command performance at the White House with Krauss.

For her eagerly anticipated return to St. Johnsbury (she opened for Peter Rowan in 2010), Sierra Hull will share the bill with the tough-to-pigeonhole, five-piece Mike + Ruthy Band, which blends bluegrass, folk, rock, and “raucous old time hoot music” that has made them an audience favorite at bluegrass festivals and concert halls from coast to coast. Season passes and individual show tickets are on sale now at www.kcppresentsorg, www.catamountarts.org, or by calling 802748-2600. Tickets purchased 30 days in advance are 20% off.
