Stansteadresidents have only six more days to wait until the Stanstead episode of Still Standing which airs on August 30th, on CBC Montreal at 9:00 pm, earlier on other CBC stations. The show, starring Jonny Harris, highlights small Canadian towns that have seen better times but are trying to make their way back to prosperity. Plenty of locals will be featured in the broadcast, including the members of the Stanstead Volunteer Fire Department. Now in its second season, Still Standing has proven popular with the Canadian audience and has been renewed for a third season. Perhaps a different Eastern Townships community will be visited next year! arlier in August, a first annual basketball clinic was held in Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School and attended by ten youngsters from Ayer’s Cliff and the surrounding area. Organized by Ayer’s Cliff residents Jeffery Schoolcraft, Patricia Vanasse and one of their daughters, former Bishop’s University Men’s basketball coach Ed Pomykala led the clinic, with help from Justin Smith. The clinic was a success and the young athletes learnt a lot from the experienced coach.
