– Back to school for the 2016-2017 school year!
W ednesday, August 31, 2016 is back to school for students in the elementary and secondary levels at the Eastern Townships School Board. Personnel in schools and centres will be greeting over 5300 students at the elementary and secondary level, in addition to 1100 in the adult education and vocational training sectors. The Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) is pleased to announce that this represents an increase in its student population for the third year in a row. Schools and Centres ready for the new school year!
School personnel have been busy over the last few days preparing for the new school year and are ready to welcome the students back. As is the tradition with the ETSB, members from senior management have visited each and every school, taking the time to welcome teachers, support staff, professionals, bus drivers and administrators back to work. An Environment that Supports Student Success!
In keeping with its commitment to provide a quality learning environment that is also welcoming, the ETSB will invest close to 3.4 million in its infrastructure for the 2016-2017 school year. Projects include maintenance, remodeling and refurbishing of buildings and grounds as well as upgrades and additions to playgrounds and green spaces. In addition, our four Adult Education and Vocational Training Centres will help over 1100 students throughout the year to achieve their goals. Be it finishing high school, getting a certificate, or changing careers and taking on a new challenge, the personnel in our centres are professionals trained and dedicated to guiding our adult students so that they can reach their potential. Be a Part of the International Students Program… experience the journey of a lifetime!
The successful International Student Program will be welcoming close to 65 students from across the globe into schools and communities this year. Many will become part of a new family in the homestay program, providing a unique and up close cultural exchange.
The Eastern Townships School Board provides educational services for students in the Estrie and Montérégie areas with 20 elementary schools, three high schools, two adult education centres, two vocational training centres, a distance education and an international student program. We offer students the advantage of studying in a bilingual environment, led by caring adults and supported with a comprehensive technology initiative that is student focused.
