Bridge south of the border
Monday and Wednesday duplicate bridge games around here are bringing in players from as far as North Hatley, PQ, St. Johnsbury, and Colebrook, NH, with 10 to 12 tables each time. Linda and Arthur Aiken are Directors in Barton and Eric McCann in Newport.
On August 15 in Barton the top four North/South teams were Denny Lyster and Steve Randle 136, Susan and Steve King 130,Jim and Sheila Long 128. Susan Marchesani and Carolyn Lyster 111. For East/West it was Pat Hunt and John Ward 129, Roger and Anne Coolley 120, Bernie Long and Joan Franklin 117, Huguette Black and Ray Joseph 111.
Wednesday August 17 at the Gateway in Newport top pairs North/South were Susan and Steve King 187, Robert and Mary Drew 163, Sandy and Richard Corrigan 163 and Pat Hunt and Stuart Brush 160. East/West it was Claire Beckler and Sheila Long 168, Roger and Anne Cooley 162, Terry Hurlbert and Jean Caird 160, Sally Newton and Marcy Mastin 160.
In Barton August 22 North/South high teams were Susan and Steve King 143, John and Charlotte Bernard 125, Bill and Kate Beadle 123, Steve Randle and Karen Hewitt. For East/West Mike and Pat Kreider 130, Claire Beckler and Sheila Long 127, Robert and Mary Drew 120, Al Traver and Barbara Buchanan 116.
The Newport game August 24 had top North/South pairs as Sandy and Richard Corrigan 129, Karen Armour and Lynn Foster 123, Steve and Susan King 121, Janet Long and Russel Blais 118. For East/ West it was Pat Hunt and Stuart Brush 128, Lillian Kelley and Ellie Ingram 127, Claire Beckler and Sheila Long 123, Sally Newton and Marcie Mastin 121.
