Oktoberfest coming to Stone Circle
October will come early to Stanstead, this month, with the Stanstead Recreation Association’s first Oktoberfest which takes place on Saturday, September 17th, from 4:00 to 11:00 pm. A huge tent will be set up right in the middle of the Stanstead Stone Circle for the event which will feature the traditional Oktoberfest menu of sausages, sauerkraut and beer. “We’ll have four kinds of beer from the Siboire brewery, in Sherbrooke,” said Marise Trepanier, the town’s recreation coordinator. “People pay for the first beer but they get to keep the mug as a souvenir,” she explained. Another Quebec business will supply the German sausages.
There will be children’s activities as well, including inflatable games from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and the rock band Mec Trio will provide live music throughout the day and evening. Members of the Stanstead fire department will provide a big bonfire on site to keep everyone warm and fireworks will be set off by the awardwinning FAE Pyrothechnie between 9 & 10 pm.
“There won’t be any tables or chairs so people will have to bring their own chairs if they want to sit down,” added Ms. Trepanier.
