Bishop’s loses big in showdown with ert et Or

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Lennoxville, Sherbrooke

In a stunning defeat, the Bishop’s Gaiters went down with a score of 38 to 7 at last Saturday night’s annual Coupe du Maire confrontation with their rivals, the Vert et Or of the Université de Sherbrooke. Played this year on Coulter Field, it was the 11th edition of the event. The Vert et Or were up fourteen points after the first thirty minutes after two touchdowns.

Bishop’s coach Kevin Mackey was reported saying after the game: “I’m not happy. We received too many useless penalties and had too many turnovers to win this match. We must finish our offensive pushes and score points. As for the special units, we weren’t always good.”

The Bishop’s Gaiters will play the Carabins of the Université de Montreal, in Montreal, this Friday. The McGill Redmen will travel to Sherbrooke to play the Vert et Or on Saturday.
