Exceptional Township’s Leaders Recognized with Community Awards
Townshippers’ Association is pleased to announce the exceptional community leaders who have been selected to receive this year’s Outstanding Townshippers award and Young Townships Leader Award at the 37th edition of Townshippers’ Day on September 17, in Brome.
In recognition of their commitment to improve the quality of life in their communities, Waterloo volunteer and organizer Ursula Stretch and Knowlton restauranteur Joey Notargiovanni will receive this year’s Outstanding Townshippers. Busy Knowlton volunteer Brenda Rhicard, Stanstead’s Phelps Helps program leader Katie Lowry and Bishop’s University Undergraduate Psychology Society Students (BUUPS) members - Lisa Astrologo, Lisa Tejpar and Elizabeth Therrien – have been selected to receive the Young Townships Leader Award.
“It is fantastic to see such wonderful examples of dedication within our Townships community,” said Rachel Hunting, Executive Director for Townshippers’ Association. “These individuals have greatly impacted their communities through their outstanding leadership skills, volunteer work and being all around positive role models. On behalf of our community, the association is honoured to recognize these individuals for their contributions and willingness to go that extra mile to make a real difference. ”
The Outstanding Townshippers award is given to people who have generously given of themselves, beyond the usual expectations of their job or profession, through volunteering, social activism, mentoring, or philanthropy, to make their community a better place to live, work and raise a family.
The Young Townships Leader Award highlights youth achievements, dynamism and involvement by celebrating community members under age 35 who serve as role models to other youth as well as to adults. Recipients are presented with a certificate, as well as a cash award made possible thanks to the generous financial contributions of Canadian Heritage, the Lennoxville Youth Center, NAV Canada, Champlain College Lennoxville, Cass Funeral Homes, and Global Excel Management.
Townshippers' Association is proud to present these awards following the Townshippers’ Day opening ceremonies, taking place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, at the Brome fairgrounds, 345 Stagecoach Road, Brome Village.
