Ex­cep­tional Town­ship’s Lead­ers Rec­og­nized with Com­mu­nity Awards

Town­ship­pers’ As­so­ci­a­tion is pleased to an­nounce the ex­cep­tional com­mu­nity lead­ers who have been se­lected to re­ceive this year’s Out­stand­ing Town­ship­pers award and Young Town­ships Leader Award at the 37th edi­tion of Town­ship­pers’ Day on Septem­ber 17, in Brome.

In recog­ni­tion of their com­mit­ment to im­prove the qual­ity of life in their com­mu­ni­ties, Water­loo vol­un­teer and or­ga­nizer Ur­sula Stretch and Knowl­ton restau­ran­teur Joey No­tar­gio­vanni will re­ceive this year’s Out­stand­ing Town­ship­pers. Busy Knowl­ton vol­un­teer Brenda Rhi­card, Stanstead’s Phelps Helps pro­gram leader Katie Lowry and Bishop’s Univer­sity Un­der­grad­u­ate Psy­chol­ogy So­ci­ety Stu­dents (BUUPS) mem­bers - Lisa Astrol­ogo, Lisa Te­j­par and El­iz­a­beth Ther­rien – have been se­lected to re­ceive the Young Town­ships Leader Award.

“It is fan­tas­tic to see such won­der­ful ex­am­ples of ded­i­ca­tion within our Town­ships com­mu­nity,” said Rachel Hunt­ing, Ex­ec­u­tive Direc­tor for Town­ship­pers’ As­so­ci­a­tion. “These in­di­vid­u­als have greatly im­pacted their com­mu­ni­ties through their out­stand­ing lead­er­ship skills, vol­un­teer work and be­ing all around pos­i­tive role mod­els. On be­half of our com­mu­nity, the as­so­ci­a­tion is hon­oured to rec­og­nize these in­di­vid­u­als for their con­tri­bu­tions and willingness to go that ex­tra mile to make a real dif­fer­ence. ”

The Out­stand­ing Town­ship­pers award is given to peo­ple who have gen­er­ously given of them­selves, be­yond the usual ex­pec­ta­tions of their job or pro­fes­sion, through vol­un­teer­ing, so­cial ac­tivism, men­tor­ing, or phi­lan­thropy, to make their com­mu­nity a bet­ter place to live, work and raise a fam­ily.

The Young Town­ships Leader Award high­lights youth achieve­ments, dy­namism and in­volve­ment by cel­e­brat­ing com­mu­nity mem­bers un­der age 35 who serve as role mod­els to other youth as well as to adults. Re­cip­i­ents are pre­sented with a cer­tifi­cate, as well as a cash award made pos­si­ble thanks to the gen­er­ous fi­nan­cial con­tri­bu­tions of Cana­dian Her­itage, the Len­noxville Youth Cen­ter, NAV Canada, Cham­plain Col­lege Len­noxville, Cass Fu­neral Homes, and Global Ex­cel Man­age­ment.

Town­ship­pers' As­so­ci­a­tion is proud to present these awards fol­low­ing the Town­ship­pers’ Day open­ing cer­e­monies, tak­ing place at 10:00 a.m. on Satur­day, Septem­ber 17, at the Brome fair­grounds, 345 Stage­coach Road, Brome Vil­lage.
