September’s Bridge Scores
The 28th season for the Gourmet Bridge Club got underway Saturday at the La Belvedere in Newport beginning with a luncheon. Seven tables played contract bridge during the afternoon. Faith Olsen who coordinates the games arranges for each player to team up with five different partners and move to different tables. The games are scheduled about twice a month from now through April and reservations may be made through her. Top five players last week were John Newton 6610, Candy Moot 6110, Jackie Beaulac 5880, Jerry Diamond 4800, and Marcie Mastin 4710.
Several from this area participated in the Autumn Leaves Bridge Tournament last week in Williston. Eric McCann and Denny Lyster both won 5.16 Silver Points; Susan Marchesani, Jeannie Claremont, Kristin Rimel, and James Long each won .5 Silver Points.
On September 12 top scores among the nine tables of duplicate bridge in Barton were North/South Janet Long and Anne Seadale 909, Susan and Steve King 97, Sandy and Richard Corrigan; East/West Sally Newton and Marcie Mastin 104, Joan Lebaesani, Jeanne Clermontron and Carl Stoneham 10-0, Al Traver and Barbara Buchanan 89, Carolyn Lyster and Susan Machesain 88.
Wednesday September 19 in Barton it was North/ South Susan and Steve King 108, Jim Long and Kristin Rimal 92, Denis Lyster and Steve Randle 92, Deborah Simpson and Karen Bennet 88; East/West Janet Long and Anne Seadale 99, Claire Beckler and Sheila Long 98, Barbara Varney and Linda Sright 86, Al Traver and Huguette Black 82.
In Newport September 14 with ten tables playing high scores were North/ South Susan and Steve King 124, Steve and Karen Randle 114, Linda and Gerry Himelstein 109, Richard and Sandy Corrigan 96; East/West Lillian Kelley and Huguette Black 119, Eric McCann and Denis Lyster 108, Marcie Mastin and Sally Newton 102, Ben Mastin and Anne Seadale 96.
