PS BUILD A COMMUNITY
cyclists as well as pedestrians.
White says the diversity of housing product also sets Bridgeland-Riverside apart with everything from new infills to cool cottages to townhomes to boutique condos and mid-rise condos. The mix of old and new urban design makes for an attractive streetscape.
“There’s a good range of prices as a result,” adds White.
Mike Bucci, vice-president of Bucci Developments which is based in Vancouver, says when the company looks to build housing developments it looks for neighbourhoods that have schools, restaurants, shopping, green space, convenient access to transportation and jobs.
“There are a few communities that fit that bill in the inner city of Calgary. Of them all, we like Bridgeland the best. It encapsulates all those things plus it’s quiet,” he says.
Condo projects Bucci has completed over the years in the neighbourhood include Next (132 homes), Bella Lusso (74 homes) and Bella Citta (78 homes).
It is currently building Radius with 201 units and an anticipated completion in early 2019. Bucci has also successfully bid on the site adjacent to Radius and is proposing a 300-plus unit development for there as well.
“We love it. We’re going to keep building into that market,” says Bucci. “We like the build form out there too. We like the different options you can have for housing and living. We love all the transportation options whether it be roads, bikes, train.
“We love the area. It’s really authentic little restaurants and restaurants I find are the heartbeat of a good neighbourhood.”
The company has been building in the neighbourhood now for a number of years.
