Po­lice look for sus­pect af­ter train as­sault

Po­lice are look­ing for a man af­ter a trans­gen­der woman was as­saulted on the CTrain two weeks ago.

At about 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 27, the woman was on a south­bound train from the down­town core, ac­cord­ing to a Cal­gary Po­lice Ser­vice state­ment, when a man be­gan be­rat­ing the woman and phys­i­cally as­saulted her.

“It is be­lieved the offender be­came abu­sive to­wards the trans­gen­der woman be­cause of her gen­der iden­tity,” po­lice said in a state­ment on Thurs­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the man left the CTrain at Chi­nook Sta­tion af­ter some­one on board the train hit the help but­ton. The sus­pect is de­scribed as a white male with short, sandy-coloured hair “and a few days

growth of facial hair.” He may have also had a neck tat­too.
