Police look for suspect after train assault
Police are looking for a man after a transgender woman was assaulted on the CTrain two weeks ago.
At about 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 27, the woman was on a southbound train from the downtown core, according to a Calgary Police Service statement, when a man began berating the woman and physically assaulted her.
“It is believed the offender became abusive towards the transgender woman because of her gender identity,” police said in a statement on Thursday morning.
Police said the man left the CTrain at Chinook Station after someone on board the train hit the help button. The suspect is described as a white male with short, sandy-coloured hair “and a few days
growth of facial hair.” He may have also had a neck tattoo.
CCTV footage shows the suspect walking along a CTrain platform prior to the assault. Police said they’re looking to speak to two witnesses seen in the footage. More on crime around the city at thestar.com/calgary
