Organizers of an anti-hate rally planned for Tuesday in West Edmonton want to show their community they will not tolerate hateful vandalism.

Protesters will gather at Talmud Torah school, 6320 172 St., at 6 p.m., in response to images resembling swastikas being spray-painted throughout the Gariepy and Callingwood South neighbourhoods last week.

“I want to make sure that the community has an opportunity to express its disgust with the graffiti,” EdmontonMcClung MLA Lorne Dach said.

“This type of anti-Semitic and racist symbolism has to be opposed, otherwise it’s deemed to be permitted by silence. Anybody who’s thinking about doing these things needs to know that the community won’t tolerate it.”

Dach said he was “disgusted” and disappointed by the acts. With files from Hamdi Issawi. Continue reading at thestar.com/edmonton
