The Chicago Black­hawks, who ar­rive here Mon­day, were the vis­it­ing team that opened and closed Maple Leaf Gar­dens with wins in 1931 and 1999. But they also had a his­tory with the lo­cal fran­chise’s first home at Mu­tual St. Arena. The Hawks were the fi­nal op­po­nent at Mu­tual St. Arena be­fore it closed, March 19, 1931. Though Toronto won 8-2, the last goal was by Harold (Mush) March, who recorded the first goal in Gar­dens his­tory the fol­low­ing Novem­ber. March brought that puck back to the clos­ing cer­e­mony 68 years later.
