BE A SURVIVOR
While there are a couple of heavy favourites to choose from this week, this is also the time to potentially take a risk and use one of the league’s lesser teams with a good matchup.
For the first time since late 2008, the Chicago Bears are favoured over the Green Bay Packers — and with good reason. The Pack looked awful against the Lions last week with Brett Hundley at QB and the Bears have proven to be quite the tough team at home this season. Chicago is also wellrested, coming off a bye.
The Jets fly down to Tampa to play a QB they know quite well: Ryan Fitzpatrick. With Jameis Winston hurt and Mike Evans suspended, backing New York for this one should be a nice play.
Finally, this might be the only time, now and in the future, that we’ll suggest taking a winless team this late in the season. The 49ers are among the league’s worst at 0-9, but they aren’t the dumpster fire that the visiting New York Giants are. With multiple reports that the Giants have quit on coach Bob McAdoo, it’s hard to think that they’ll outwork the hosts.
