Events launch Holocaust memorial week in Winnipeg
11 a.m. The Annual Holocaust Memorial Service for survivors, their families and members of the public at Congregation Etz Chayim, 123 Matheson Ave. E., with keynote speaker Stuart Murray, executive director and CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
7 p.m. Congregation Shaarey Zedek, 561 Wellington Cr., has its seventh annual Yom Hashoah interfaith commemorative service and reading of the Megillat Hashoah, the Holocaust scroll.
9:30 a.m. B’nai Brith Canada’s “Unto Every Person There is a Name” ceremony in Room 254 at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
At noon, outside the legislature at the Holocaust Monument there will be a ceremony to proclaim Yom Hashoah. The program includes government dignitaries and students from two public schools and Gray Academy.
