Get cycling and burn some calories, without eve n leav ing the house

-

Riding your bike is a great way of keeping fit, but it’s not always possible to hit the road, especially now that the days are shorter and the weather more miserable. Enter Zwift, a cool app that, with a bit of help from some extra hardware, can turn your regular bike into an indoor machine.

As well as the app, you’ll need a compatible trainer that lifts the wheels of the bike from the floor while you pedal, plus an ANT+ dongle. The app not only counts the calories you burn as you pedal, it also hooks you up to the Zwift game, which lets you cycle virtually with other Zwift users from around the world. This gives you an extra incentive to jump on your bike, pedal away and shed those pounds.

With the additional kit necessary to make it work, it’s not the cheapest way to workout; but if you miss cycling when the weather’s rubbish, it’s worth the cost. Zwift supports a range of devices (find out more at http://zwift.com/what-is-it).
