A case in point is our first test winner, Canon. The 77D has an aluminium chassis at its core, in order to provide a skeleton that’s strong yet lightweight with it, covered with a standard polycarbonate resin and glass fibre outer shell. The result is a camera that is robust yet not heavy. Nikon uses a single piece carbon reinforced shell, with the camera marginally more compact and lighter than the Canon, suiting those with smaller hands. The Pentax is noticeably the heaviest, but then its weather-proofed bodywork is more built for heavy-duty operation.
